Getting started
Sign in, learn the dashboard, and get your first items out the door.
Signing in
Your administrator creates your staff account with one of four roles (see Roles and permissions). Sessions last 12 hours, then you sign in again. Borrowers never sign in — only the people running the desk do.
The dashboard
The dashboard is the first page after sign-in, and it answers three questions at a glance:
- What's the state of the crib? Five live counts across the top: available, checked out, overdue, due in the next 24 hours, and out of service.
- Who do I need to chase? The overdue table lists each late borrower, what they still have, the due date, and days over — with a link straight to the open loan. Below it, everything due back in the next 24 hours.
- What just happened? Recent activity shows the last 15 actions from the audit trail — who checked out, checked in, or edited what, and when.
Setting up a new crib
- Load your items. Bulk-load with CSV import (categories and locations are created for you from the file), or add them one at a time.
- Add your people. Under People, add each borrower's name — email, phone, and an external ID (like a student or employee number) are optional, but an email is what makes overdue reminders work.
- Print labels. The label sheet prints a QR label for every item, 30 to a page.
- Do your first checkout. Check out → pick the person, the due-back date, and the items. That's the core loop.
Moving fast
Press Ctrl-K (or ⌘K on a Mac) anywhere in the app
for the command palette — type a few letters and jump straight to checkout, an
item list filter, the label sheet, or sign-out without touching the mouse.
